Ariana Grande One Love Manchester

On May 22, 2017, a terrorist attack took place at the Arena in Manchester in England where an Ariana Grande concert was being held. The concert goers were leaving around 10:30 pm British Summer Time (Or 5:30 Eastern Standard Time.) when a 22 year old suicide bomber ran in and detonated, killing 22 people and injuring another 116. 60 ambulances arrived at the scene along with 400 police officers answering to over 240 distress calls being made to local police stations. Widespread panic unfolded and since the attack over 20 people have been arrested under suspicion of terrorism with 9 being released from custody so far; the bombers two brothers and father have all been taken into custody. Following the attack, Ariana Grande tweeted “broken. from the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don't have words.” and began preparations for a benefit concert entitled ‘One Love Manchester’ to raise funds for the victims and families of those affected by the Manchester attack.

​The benefit concert was held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 and many celebrities came out to show their support for Grande and the victims of the attack. Singers such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber all came out to show their support onstage; reminding the audience to remain strong in this time of suffering and to reach out to those in need. The Red Cross also played a part in all of this, encouraging people to give blood to aid the victims of the Manchester attack. Before the benefit concert took place, Ariana Grande took it upon herself to visit those who were injured in the hospital from her Manchester show, she posted several pictures from her visit, one being titled ‘I love you’ while depicting her sharing a bed with a fan who was injured.
