What is it like acting on Nickelodeon's hit show: Hunter Street?
It’s truly a dream come true. To say my first real acting experience is on a Nickelodeon show, that’s amazing. I never would have thought that. It is great to work with such a talented and wonderful group people.
How are you expecting the fans to react to the next season of Hunter Street?
I really hope they will like it even better than season 1. I think the chemistry between the siblings is very natural and the two new amazing characters fit in really well. There are more secret rooms to explore, more intense mysteries, and great storylines.
If you could be any other character, but Sal, who would you be?
I think I would be Max. Just because he is so different from Sal and so goofy. It would be fun to play an outgoing, cool, adventurous person. However, I really love my own character, Sal, because I love the challenge of playing someone so different from myself.
What are some of your favorite moments shooting on the set of Hunter Street?
Some of my favorite moments on set are when we have scenes with all the siblings together because it gives such an upbeat vibe. My favorite moments off camera are in between scenes when we dance, sing, and talk about life lessons. If we have a really long break, we chill in the green room and play games.
How do you think Sal has changed throughout the series? And what do you see for the future of your character?
Sal has really grown up, especially in season 2. He is still a techie and interested in computers and gadgets, but now he is more mature. In season 2, he is more interested in people and is becoming more social… (new storyline). For the future, I would like to know more about Sal’s background and would love for him to invent a unique tech gadget on his own.
What was it like for you being on set the first day of filming for Hunter Street?
I was nervous, excited, and eager to meet the cast and crew, all at the same time. We started with a table read and I had no idea what to expect because this show was my first big gig. Luckily, everyone was very nice and made me feel right at home.
This is your first TV show, what was the process like auditioning and getting onto the show? My casting agent was looking for a young boy who could speak fluent English, and because I lived in San Francisco for 3 years my English was good. I was super excited and really wanted to get this role. When I saw the script, I remember thinking “wow, I am never going to get this role”—mostly because the character was a techie kid and that was not me at all. The audition lines were really difficult. I practiced and practiced and practiced until I really got it. I wanted to show that I could play the character, so I dressed up wearing nerdy clothes. Walking out of the audition, I was very happy with it, but I also knew that there were probably so many boys who tried out for the same part. About 2 weeks later, I got the call that I was invited to the 3rd round of auditions with other actors. I remember meeting Kyra and Thomas for the first time. There were 2 guys trying out for Daniel, two girls trying out for Anika, and 4 guys trying out for Sal! I immediately got nervous because I really had to kill my scenes to beat the other actors. I remember doing my first scene with Thomas and Kyra and it felt so powerful, I really hoped that we would get the role. After the audition, I remember getting in the car and saying to my mom “wow, I really hope I get this one”, especially with Thomas and Kyra.
How did you get into acting, and what has your journey been like?
I started when I was about 6 years old. My sister got asked to do a photoshoot for a casting agency and they wanted me to take photos as well because they thought I had a good face for television. I started acting classes in school and fell in love with it. I told my mom I wanted to sign with a casting agency. I started getting very small auditions, but not many big ones until Hunter Street. When you aren't busy working, what do you do in your free time? Any hobbies?
I love to play basketball, hangout with friends, travel with the family, play with my dog, look at cool outfits, game with my brother, and catch up with school work.
What type of opportunities are you looking forward to in the future?
I am not sure what the future holds for me, but I hope and think that acting will be the biggest part of it. I would like nothing more than to land a role in a cool project. And of course, we all hope for season 3 of Hunter Street!
Are there any other projects that you are working on? At this moment, I am doing some auditions, but my biggest project now is to get good grades in school. Can’t wait to have a new acting project soon!
